For dancers, making friends with rhythm is an essential process: to be held in and by rhythm, to be nourished by rhythm. Austrian composer and percussionist Reinhard Flatischler devised a process to help people reconnect with their rhythmic consciousness. He called the process TaKeTiNa. Integrating rhythms, body movement, clapping and vocalising, TaKeTiNa is a group musical and rhythmic process, and at the same time it is much more. It provides a window into oneself, one’s relationship with rhythm and one’s relationship with life.
